Du shicheng accentuated the
development of great industry in west coast and new economic center

Vice secretary of the province commission Dushicheng
accentuated while visiting in the development zone that we must fully understand
the importance of city' s western coast
al strategy. Therefore by using uniting
endeavors with collaboration accelerating the construction of an industry system
in the western coastal area of Qingdao along with a new economic center.
After listening to the progress report regarding key programs, Mr. Du
inspected the on-going city planning and Hai Xi bay ship-repairing base, Haier
industrial park and Pu xiang rustless steel base, etc.
Mr.Du stated that preliminary achievements have been obtained since city
commission and city government adopted the west coast strategy. Therefore it is
important that the city needs to reach a common understanding in that western
coastal strategy is critical enough to decide the position and future of
Qingdao. The strategy will have 3 stages. First is the industry accumulation,
which is currently booming. Second is the industry promotion building a
competent industrial system with and with the ability to improve in many
directions. Then is brand building to cultivate famous brands in shipping,
petroleum, automobile, etc. While carrying out the strategy, we need to focus on
the undergoing the projects and leave some space for the future possible
industries.
Mr. Du also said the development zone now is facing 3 challenges: how to
improve economic power, how to enhance city function and how to solve the
traffic problem.
